JAMES
SHIVELY/V.P. MSI, AKRON SPECIAL MACHINERY,
INC.
Mr. Shively is a third-generation
tire uniformity professional with
over 24 years experience in the industry. He
started at MSI in 1975 as a part-time
employee updating software. In
1980, while earning his degree from
The University of Akron, he began
full time employment as an Electronic
Technician responsible for the check
out and field startup of the MSI
Model 225 Tire Uniformity Controller.
By 1987, Mr. Shively
had become Vice President of MSI and
played a significant role in the software
development of what is known in the
industry as auto-skim grinder control. He
went on to develop and patent the Ply
Splice Gap/Overlap Detector, and has
redesigned the MSI Model 225 to the
Model 2000 controller.
