Akron Special Machinery (ASM) |  COMPANY OVERVIEW

Akron Special Machinery (ASM) was established in 1978 by David Poling and Ray Heupel. Both are graduate mechanical engineers who saw a need for a company that could both design and build specialized machinery for the tire and rubber industry.

Our engineering expertise and machining capabilities have earned us the reputation of being a leader in the design, development, building, and testing of quality equipment for the tire and rubber industry. Our engineering staff, which includes three engineers and six designers, currently holds 33 patents (with two pending) for various rubber related equipment.

Specialized equipment produced at our facility includes:
> Tire manufacturing and testing equipment
> Web handling equipment for rubber, paper, fabric, and wire calender lines
> Printed circuit board press lines
> Material handling equipment including conveyors, pick & place, and AGV's
   (automated guided vehicles).
> Steel mill equipment including rotary bar and tube straighteners, strip lines,
    levelers, and flatteners.
