Measurement Systems, Inc. has provided a digital tire uniformity measuring system to tire and automotive industries for over 30 years.  We offer a proud tradition of supporting not only new technologies like our Model 2000, but legacy products like our Model 225 series, which has operated continuously as a viable production machine since its introduction twenty years ago.  We partner with customers all over the world to develop key technologies and higher quality standards for their products.

> 1970 MSI was founded and began providing the rubber and automotive industries with highly accurate and reliable digital electronic measuring systems.
> 1971 MSI became the first successful commercial company to design and manufacture a high speed uniformity machine.
> 1973 MSI became the first commercial manufacturer of true proportional correction systems for excessive uniformity variations.
> 1976 MSI designed and sold its first Automatic Coordinate Measuring Machine.
> 1980 MSI designed the Model 225 Tire Uniformity Control System.  300+ TUO Controller systems sold worldwide.
> 1992 MSI designed the latest Tire Uniformity Control System – the Model 2000 – using the latest technology.
> 2001 MSI redesigned the Model 2000 controller to use a Windows NT OS and the latest in Networking technology.


JAMES SHIVELY/V.P. MSI, AKRON SPECIAL MACHINERY, INC.

Mr. Shively is a third-generation tire uniformity professional with over 24 years experience in the industry.  He started at MSI in 1975 as a part-time employee updating software.  In 1980, while earning his degree from The University of Akron, he began full time employment as an Electronic Technician responsible for the check out and field startup of the MSI Model 225 Tire Uniformity Controller.

By 1987, Mr. Shively had become Vice President of MSI and played a significant role in the software development of what is known in the industry as auto-skim grinder control.  He went on to develop and patent the Ply Splice Gap/Overlap Detector, and has redesigned the MSI Model 225 to the Model 2000 controller.
